KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia:Patriot takes serious note of a report that the four states under the Pas-Bersatu or Perikatan Nasional coalition – Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu – will have a different logo from that of the federal government’s to mark our 2023 national independence day.

The proposal by the Perikatan Nasional’s youth wing chief, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, on the use of different themes and logos for the national day celebration in the four PN-ruled states, by all counts, is seen as betraying the principles of federalism practised in the country.

Patriot condemns such an anti-government stance.

For the opposition political parties to propose a logo and theme when it should instead come from the present “unity government” is not only arrogant but plants anti-government sentiments in the country.

What have the Bersatu and Pas leadership got to say about this dangerous trend they are said to be mooting?

Never in the history of our nationhood since gaining independence has there ever been such a stance in the country. Why now?

Patriot urges the current government under the leadership of Anwar Ibrahim to take drastic action against this dangerous act and intent.

Certainly, our rulers will not condone such betrayal of the federalism that has been painstakingly cherished by the royalty all these decades.

As trained, loyal defenders of the nation, Patriot members take this action and intent by the opposition seriously as it sends a dangerous signal and sets an implosive precedent.
