KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia--The Pejuang Foreign Affairs Bureau is concerned with the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan which has created a humanitarian crisis for its people.

In the midst of this crisis, we are further distraught by and strongly condemn the act of terror on 26th August 2021 in the vicinity of the Hamid Karzai International Airport which has resulted in the loss of Afghan and other lives.

We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, and pray for those injured a speedy recovery.

The attack on Hamid Karzai International Airport, also proves that the situation in Afghanistan is complex and the road to peace is fraught with challenges.

Nevertheless, we are hopeful that the Talibans and those in positions of power will find a peaceful solution to their political impasse and that they will agree on a common purpose between all factions for the good of Afghanistan and for stability within the region.

We acknowledge the international condemnation of the Taliban in relation to their human rights record, especially towards the treatment of women and children. However, we are confident that the Talibans and those in positions of power will uphold the true teachings of Islam thus improving its reputation regarding human rights.

To this end, we implore that members of the international community and international aid organisations continue their tremendous efforts in providing aid to those in need, especially women and children to ensure that the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan does not worsen in the midst of this political upheaval.
