KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia--The Junior Thai Boxing World Championship (IFMA Youth World Championships 2022), which is being held in Kuala Lumpur from August 9 to 21, 2022, demonstrates the high level of Malaysian hospitality and professionalism in hosting this prestigious international event.

“In the year of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Russia, it is a great honor for us to participate in the World Thai Boxing Championship organized at the highest level.

As always, the delegation from Russia is one of the most numerous and counts on the first team place. Given the well-coordinated, professional organization of the competitions by the IFMA, we can say with confidence that Kuala Lumpur has every chance to become the world capital of sports tourism," said Dmitry Putilin, Head of the Muay Thai Boxing Federation of Russia.

The Thai Boxing World Championship among athletes aged 10 to 17 is held annually, but in 2020 the competition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Malaysia is hosting these competitions for the second time – IFMA (International Association of Muaythai Federations) held such a major international start in 2014 in Langkawi.

129 teams are taking part in this prestigious world championship in 2022, the delegation from Russia consists of 81 athletes of various age groups – from boys to juniors.

Since 2018, the Russian Thai boxing team has been taking the first team places at all international competitions in which it participates.

The Muay Thai Boxing Federation of Russia has been operating since 1996. The Federation is headed by Dmitry Putilin, who at one time became a world champion, and the Federation team consists of professional and enthusiastic Muay Thai specialists.
